Denmark's Wave Energy Center Must Be in Hanstholm

-so says the trade, the trade organization for waves, the University of Aalborg, Port of Hanstholm, the Port Forum, politicians, the municipality etc.

Last Wednesday Port of Hanstholm and Hanstholm Port Forum hosted an event concerning a possible wave energy centre aiming to unite the efforts so that the development of wave energy will be speeded up thus making it possible for the wave energy companies to use all their energy on what they do best - development - and others may be able to offer their competences so that development will be boosted and 1 +1 will be 5!

The research centre for wave energy at the University of Aalborg is a central player in pointing at Hanstholm as the most relevant place in Denmark. And that exactly they do it - is also important for the trade, who clearly means that they must be able to cooperate and sees it as an important criterion for the geographic choice - partly that the University of Aalborg is a central part, but also that there is local back up and competences to support them in the essential areas - here they point at maritime competences like smith's work, software solutions and electricity/electronics, towage services etc. around the "wet element" placing quite other demands to equipment than land based solutions. But also the goodwill of politicians to support the project and "24 hours service" all year round - organization and last but not least - the best waves in Denmark - these are the reasons they see why Hanstholm is the place in Denmark where the Wave Energy Centre of all Denmark must be - and it can only move too slowly...

Therefore a work group was established already at the meeting and its first task is to send an application to the Growth Forum so that the idea is reserved for Hanstholm - and so that we can get started soonest possible.
