Managing Port Director Ms. Birgitte Juhl informed more than 100 participants at a knock off work meeting on 2^nd May at Hotel Hanstholm of the state of affairs of the port development plan.

The draft/time schedule which was presented on 9^th June holds roughly. Off course we learn as we go and some adjustments take place continuously, Birgitte Juhl emphasized.

At the moment full speed is put into the work with the Climate and Environment Research (VVM). A research which must describe how the development plan will influence the surroundings and environment. A research which amounts to approx. DKK 10 million.

With the DKK 30 million which was granted to the port from the Second Port Allocation, extra speed has been added to this research.

One of things which has been made out and which needs further attention is the design of the outer piers and the port entrance which is of vital importance for the future access to the port – and for the problem with sand sedimentation. Therefore further research concerning navigation conditions by means of a series of simulated port calls will be initiated.

Construction work of the new outer piers is expected to start in 2013.
