Port of Hanstholm - large turnout for knock-off-work-meeting

80 persons were present when Ms. Birgitte Juhl, Port of Hanstholm, gave a briefing about the port development going as planned.

The Managing Director of Port of Hanstholm, Ms. Birgitte Juhl, led the way and informed yesterday an audience of 80 interested people about the port development plan and its status. We are in the VVM-phase (Climate and Environment Research), and are at the same time updating the business plan, which is planned to be finished and presented for the owners of the port  – The Municipality of Thisted – at a meeting in November.  So we still expect to be able to start digging in springtime 2013, she said, and continued: At the same time we work with detailed planning of the outer parameters and the rear areas and the latest drawing was displayed.  

In comparison to earlier, the port entrance has been optimized as regards navigation conditions and as regards planning of pier and quay installations and unrest and the like have been taken into consideration. In the detailed planning both new business areas are being taken into consideration – e.g. oil rigs – as well as fishing among other things, in the work group, ”fishing port year 2016”,  in which a group of the port users work in detail with present and future logistics and organization with special focus on edible and industrial fish and logistics concerning this: traceability, robots grading of fish, crate optimization etc. ,Port Director Ms. Birgitte Juhl said.

Indeed a process and a manner of working which among others the chairman of the Hanstholm Fish Exporters’ Association, Mr. Carsten Beith, gave much praise for to Ms. Birgitte Juhl and the Port Management. They are good at involving the users and at listening to our wishes he said at the meeting held at Hotel Hanstholm – invitations were brought through ads the last 2 Wednesdays in the local weekly paper, Thisted Posten.

The meeting also presented an external lecture on demands for off-shore supplies and the message was clear: – be ready, you have quite a unique location in Hanstholm as regards off shore oil fields in the North Sea  – so cooperate and make alliances – what you cannot do yourself – or are too small to lift – create cooperations with others about this.

After the interesting lecture on off shore, Ms. Britta Vang Mikkelsen, Hanstholm Port Forum, informed of the status of the Service Project. A socially funded project supported by the Danish Enterprise and Construction Authority, which reports of success and concrete initiatives quite in keeping with the necessary focus on cooperation and competence development to be able to convert possible future business areas to growth and business for the local companies.

At the end there was a good and constructive dialogue between the executives from the port companies and management and chairman of the port.
