The Hanstholm Fish Auction presents Record Turnover

Gemba Seafood Consulting has on behalf of Hanstholm Port Forum analyzed the newest turnover figures for the largest fish auctions in Denmark and the figures float over with success stories for Hanstholm:

Hanstholm Fish Auction reached a record turnover in 2008 with 501 million DKK and is also in 2008 by far the largest fish auction in the country and the only one with growth from 2007 to 2008. This in spite of the merger of the fish auctions at Hvide Sande and Thyborøn under the name "Danish Fish Auctions" with a drop in turnover from 415 million DKK in 2007 to 353 million in 2008 (15%).

To maintain this progress Port Of Hanstholm has initiated the preparation of a development plan to ensure that development and enlargement of the port create even better conditions for the fishing industry.

In this it is vital to be forward of the increasing demands from the authorities. The unbroken cool chain is a splendid example of Hanstholm being first and this is why an optimization of the conditions for Hanstholm Fish Auction also constitutes an important and quite natural part of the development plan.

The development plan operates with an enlargement of the port to improve and ensure safe port entrance, more quay space, better port infrastructure and space for processing and export industries. The plan has been prepared with great help from the 4 working groups representing the users of the port.

All groups emphasize that the plan is more visionary and sustainable than they dared hope for and requests and ideas have been treated seriously and incorporated into the plan in a distinguished way.

"The development plan renders new scopes for the port for further development within the fishing industry but also for ferries, goods and new initiatives...", as the user groups say..
